‘wild’ spirituality for men

ABOUT SPIRITDOJO
SpiritDojo was formed with you in mind. Organising spiritual, residential (4-7 day) retreats
for men only, we’ve found men to be deeply spiritual but often they’re in an environment
where they cannot voice their views on spirituality, usually having no access to a learning
and an experiential environment, and so miss out. But, no longer!
SpiritDojo is for men aged 18 years or older: Men of all races, and religions, or of none,
men searching for wisdom for their spiritual journey, grandfathers, fathers, sons, godsons
and grandsons, men without fathers. It’s for guys who are brave enough to take the next
step. You can join a retreat as an individual, bring a friend. Why, if you already have a
group of men (at church, at your faith group etc) we’ll even lead them! All can benefit.
What it isn’t. It isn’t:
What SpiritDo is. It is:
A lecture-based event
Experiential, vibrant, relevant teaching, and personal
Strange, weird, tree-hugging
Spiritual, taking you ‘deeper’ through daily ritual etc
Boring, stuffy, ‘church?’
Challenging, encouraging, uplifting, taking you further
Inactive
Participatory, taking you out of your ‘comfort zone’
Just information-giving
Times of sharing, discussion, even laughing together.
For the ‘super-fit’
For all men, who like action, challenge, adventure
Just a holiday
A ‘tribal’-like, transforming, much needed, experience.
SpiritDojo is residential. That is, it is in a comfortable retreat house in a wilderness’ or rural setting, with full
bed and board. Shared rooms. Food is vegetarian. Some activities include walking and outdoor spiritual practices, and
so do bring walking shoes, appropriate seasonal clothing that you don’t getting dirty, and waterproofs.
Spirit Dojo retreats are ancient-future. Like a pole-vaulter who walks backward before running forward, we believe
that we can learn a lot from the wisdom of the ancients. So, the basis of each retreat’s adventures, actions, challenges,
‘sharing’, rituals, prayer and meditations etc is the Book. We use the Book of Job, Book of Jonah, and the Book of Daniel
on different retreats. We’re excited about this, because those ‘ancients’ can sure teach us a thing or two, and we’re sure
you’ll be ‘bowled over’ at the relevance of the awesome and profound teaching in those Books. An Elder leads
each retreat of ‘tribal warriors’ (that’s you).
Our society, apart from SpiritDojo, doesn’t really mentor (young) men, doesn’t initiate them and so it’s no wonder
that men grow up unchallenged and some behave badly in their thirties, forties, or ‘wander’ or feel ‘out of the
loop’ etc. What is needed is tribal leadership, mentoring by an Elder, challenges, initiation, and the passing on of
the wisdom of the ancients. You wont find it (quite like this) anywhere except through SpiritDojo!
Is this for you? Why not make a decision, right now, to register an interest for a Spirit Dojo retreat, and
really start to live life to the full? Costs are explained at the base of each retreat webpage. Some pay
‘extra’ and so if you’re on a low income and would be detered because of money, please let us know
when you register an interest (that’s the first step to booking), as sometimes it’s possible to give a
concession.
I didn’t realise how ‘restricted’ my life was until I
attended the Retreat of Discovery. It was challenging
‘eye- opening’ and just what I needed. Thanks.
[Raymond K, Boston]
One word. ‘Remarkable!’ [Bob D, Capel Curig]
The routine of my life was getting to me, my job, family
and health was suffering. I needed ‘something’, but I
didn’t know what, and my pals couldn’t help. But after
attending all three retreats I know now about my origin
and worth, my purpose in life and strengths, and have
heaps of spiritual ‘tools’ to assist me on my spiritual
journey. Ace. [Kevin McQ, Aberdeen]
I’m more focussed, more able, and enjoying life a lot
more. It feels like I’ve been living ‘small’, but now that’s
all changed. It was like a breath of fresh air! Highly
recommended. Many thanks. [Ben H, Taunton]
